FMF KTM Factory Racing Team’s Taylor Robert sealed his second consecutive WORCS Pro Championship with second place at the final round of the 2020 World Off-Road Championship Series at Lake Havasu – Dante Oliveira won on the day for second place overall.

Taylor Robert needed only one point to wrap up the title at the WORCS season finale last weekend and true to form took a calculated ride getting into second place early on settling in behind fellow KTM rider, Dante Oliveira. Robert held onto second throughout the 18-lap race to claim his second-straight championship in the series.

Robert claims knowing he only had to score one point was a bit stressful but focused on just getting the job done without any catastrophes.“I was just keying off of Dante early on,” said Taylor. “That was actually the ideal scenario for me to just sit behind him for the first half of the race because all I had to do is complete half of the laps to score one point and then I could charge to the finish. As much as I would have wanted to win the race, I was really focused on winning the championship and it felt great to come away with back-to-back championships.”

FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Manager, Antti Kallonen praised Taylor’s back-to-back win in a season like no other. “Hats off to Taylor, who prevailed through all the adversity this season,” said Kallonen. “From long breaks to 75-minute, 90-minute and 2-hour races, and even some back-to-back race days as well. No matter what the circumstance was, Taylor was always ready to race and showed his dominance with five wins and four second place finishes. Congratulations to Taylor and the entire team.”

2020 proved to be a solid season for the FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis and the Oliviera’s with Dante taking the win, his third of the season – a result which meant second overall in the 2020 Pro Class Championship. Meanwhile, Mateo Oliveira (below) clinched the Pro 2 Championship on Sunday with a runner-up finish at this final round.

The final round of the WORCS series welcomed some of the wider off-road racing family to Havasu for this final round with Josh Toth and Thad Duvall among the Pro rider line-up. It’s fair to say they left the event with plenty of respect for the WORCS race pace if nothing else. Duvall ended in fifth while Toth finished ninth.
