2021 EnduroGP of Germany in Zschopau cancelled

The FIM, German Motorcycle Federation (DMSB) and organising club in Zschopau have announced the 2021 EnduroGP of Germany, round five of the EnduroGP World Championship has been cancelled due to ongoing Covid measures.

Scheduled to take place in Zschopau, Saxony on October 8-10, the FIM say despite the best efforts of all concerned, the strict Covid measures put in the place by the Zschopau area’s district administrator and the chief of health means that it is simply not possible to run the event this year.

The news is disappointing for all concerned in the event of course but also from a sporting point of view as the Zschopau race is always a cracking one – proper enduro to many and certainly one with it’s own character as you can see from the image from 2017 above.

The FIM Enduro Commission is actively looking for a replacement event they say and try to keep this a six round championship. News on this and any updates to the EnduroGP calendar will arrive “as soon as it is possible to do so”.

John Collins, FIM Enduro Commission Director: “It goes without saying that this is hugely disappointing for the 2021 Borilli FIM EnduroGP World Championship and all involved, but as everyone is aware we are still living through unprecedented times. Organising international enduro competitions is challenging at the best of times, but during a pandemic it becomes extremely difficult. We will do all we can to find a replacement event for the 2021 championship and look forward to visiting Zschopau as soon as it is possible to do so.”

The FIM add they would like to thank all involved in the running of the 2021 Borilli FIM EnduroGP World Championship for their continued hard work, effort, and want to deliver a high-level championship despite the difficulties associated with organising events during the ongoing pandemic.
