Rieju start work on new Spanish factory to support model expansion and international growth plans

Rieju have broken ground on a new factory in north-east Spain as the brand looks to boost production and support continued growth in overseas markets.

Located in the Empordà Internacional industrial area of Vilamalla, the new facility is currently in its early stages, with earthmoving works currently underway ahead of a planned opening in the first quarter of 2028.

The firm say the project will help increase production output and support the development of 'new products’ - while this most likely means an expansion of their road-based stable, we’re not ruling out seeing a fresh MR model join the existing pair of injected two strokes and learner-legal 125 four stroke.

The site, which will become the brand’s third manufacturing facility, will occupy a 71,973m² plot and feature 27,100m² of built space, including two warehouses, a production plant with five assembly lines and dedicated office facilities.

Rieju CEO Jordi Riera said: “This new factory is a key step in RIEJU’s evolution. It will allow us to increase our production capacity, flexibility and digitalisation, improve our processes and continue growing in the development of new products and international markets without losing our essence or our connection to the territory,”
