2023 British Enduro Championship heads to the Isle of Man – onboard track preview

Round five and six of the 2023 ACU British Enduro Championship takes place this weekend on the Isle of Man with Danny McCanney heading the entry list on home soil but Jed Etchells gunning for home glory.

Danny McCanney will carry that advantage to the tests and tour of the Manx island which promises to be a great weekend’s riding for the different classes. Danny will have stiff competition from fellow Manxman Jed Etchells with the Fantic rider carrying momentum from his EnduroGP Junior World Championship points lead, plus a second place finish at the previous rounds in Yorkshire.

Despite the great location, the entry list for this two-day weekend is not as strong as some rounds and will not feature the championship leader, and winner of the previous rounds, Brad Freeman.

The Beta Factory Racing rider has been recovering off his bike following a head injury earlier in the summer but is expected (though not confirmed) as racing in the final round of the 2023 Italian Enduro Championship also this weekend.

News also landed today that the final BEC round, due to be held on October 14/15, has been cancelled with the organisers unable to source a venue.

Onboard track preview of the sandy and technical Cross test at Jurby which is sure to get beaten up over the weekend. It will be familiar to many of the local riders with part of the test being a well-used training ground for some of the Manx riders over the years including the McCanney brothers and David Knight.
