2023 SuperEnduro Rnd 4 results: The Billy Bolt show rolls on in Israel

Results from the GP of Israel, round four of the 2023 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship where a Billy Bolt maintained his dominance with his fourth victory of the season ahead of Jonny Walker and Taddy Blazusiak third.

Jerusalem SuperEnduro round 4 in a nutshell:

Billy Bolt welcomed an improved track inside the Pais Arena, Jerusalem on this second visit to Israel for the SuperEnduro World Championship. The small footprint of the Arena meant organisers had to work a well-planned track inside.
SuperPole got proceedings underway, bafflingly with just seven of the eight riders in total taking part. It left one rider, Jordan Scott on the TM watching from the side lines and arguably he was the one rider who needed more track time than most in this, his second-ever SuperEnduro race.
Bolt typically set the fastest practice and Superpole times but looked a little ragged early doors this evening.
Race one saw Bill lead from the first turn though with Jonny keeping him honest and, with Bolt making mistakes, an upset looked possible for a while. But it never materialised and Bill won from Walker with Cody Webb settling past Taddy Blazusiak for third and fourth respectively.
Walker’s second place in race one at least ensured the world championship title rolled on to Gilwice in Poland in a couple of weeks, mathematically putting it out of reach for Bolt at the Israeli GP.
Race two’s reverse grid did its job of providing intrigue, allowing Dominick Olszowy to bag a holeshot, the early race lead and the fastest race lap. Bolt jumped past after a couple of laps and went onto win comfortably – despite a big get-off when he collided with Diego Vieira.
The interest came from Walker crashing early, dropping down to sixth and staging comeback. When Cody went a bit whisky on the Sherco throttle, it allowed JW22 through for P2. Taddy Blazusiak also got the better of Webb for a moto podium.
Race three was something of a masterclass/procession with Bill quickly into his rhythm and eventually lapping everyone up to Walker in second. Webb retired from the race allowing Olszowy to come home third ahead of Blazusiak but penalties for both promoted Diogo Vieira to a moto podium. When the dust settled, Taddy explained he took a line around an obstacle because it was safer but it didn’t matter, penalty or not, he took the overall P3 on the night.
With the absence of a full Prestige class grid, Juniors and European riders there were long periods of inaction on the night. National support races filled gaps but this wasn’t the show we are used to seeing in the likes of Poland and Germany.
The riding level, with just a couple of exceptions, disappointingly aren’t good enough to support a world level programme. Overall the event was a poor reflection of a World Championship competition.
