2025 EnduroGP of Portugal Results: Zach Pichon victorious, Holcombe goes out on day 2

TM Boano Racing’s Zach Pichon takes maiden victory on day two of the 2025 EnduroGPWorld Championship GP of Portugal, a day which saw Honda RedMoto Racing’s Steve Holcombe an early runaway leader before a bad leg twist ends his day.

EnduroGP Rnd 1, Portugal Day 2 in a nutshell:

• A flying start and a comfortable lead deep into the second of the three laps today, day two of the 2025 Portuguese GP, came to a halt in the second visit to the Enduro Test for Honda RedMoto Racing’s Steve Holcombe. The nine-times champ caught his leg badly in some ruts, twisted his knee horribly and was forced to retire due to the injury and pain.
• Holcombe joined compatriot Brad Freeman on the walking wounded list as the Beta rider was a non-starter today due to his own knee injury.
• Steve’s loss gave TM Boano Racing’s Zach Pichon all the chance he needed to go one step better and take victory. The Frenchman, who has gelled rapidly with the Italian TM team and bike, has been on it all weekend and stepped up to claim his first overall victory in the senior ranks.

• The winning margin was just 2.75s ahead of GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona who ironed out the mistakes today to challenge for the win, only to narrowly miss out in the final test.
• Third on the day was yesterday’s winner, Red Bull KTM’s Josep Garcia who finished just over 10s behind the winner. The Spaniard said he found day two hard due to lack of training and recent collerbone surgery.
• The ultra close top 10 overall saw two under-the-radar rides from both Beta’s Nathan Watson fourth and Honda RedMoto’s Samuele Bernadini to complete the top five. Behind them a real scrap raged all day between Hamish Macdonald, Mikael Persson and Antoine Magain – they finished in that order but four seconds separated them.
• In class Garcia won E1, Pichon E2 and Hamish Macdonald E3 while Pichon’s overall gives him the early championship lead by two points from Garcia with Verona third.
• Two laps instead of three today saw the Enduro Women finishing early and it was a repeat podium with Honda RedMoto’s Francesca Nocera claiming a 1-1 scorecard for the weekend.
• It was closer on day two as Reiju’s Rachel Gutish ran the Italian closer, finishing just 2s adrift. KBS Sherco’s Nieve Holmes goes home with her best-ever GP results and a 3-3 scorecard after another solid ride.
• TM’s successful weekend was boosted by Elizabeth Tett taking her seond day win in the Junior Enduro Women category on a touhgh opening weekend for this new category.
• Kyron Bacon was impressive once again in the Junior category. The Aussie has finally arrived fulltime in the EnduroGP paddock this year and clearly gels with his Kawasaki Italy-backed team (and bike for a 1-1 scorecard across the weekend.
• Day two saw Leo Joyon turn the tables on Kevin Cristino and reverse their positions from yesterday, the Frenchman 15s behind the winner and a neat 15 ahead of his Fantic riding rival.
• TM factory team had two tastes of fizzy wine today as their young hotshot, Alberto Algari, came out singing in the Youth class as well. Taking an early lead from the first test, the Italian maintained for a near half minute margin after nine tests.
