2025 Roof of Africa Results: James Moore Marches to Day 2 Win

Results and video highlights from the 2025 Roof of Africa Hard Enduro day two in Lesotho, the final round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship where South African James Moore grabs the limelight to top a dominant day for the locals.

In the absence of nine-times winner Wade Young, James Moore is handsomely carrying South African honours at this first time The Roof stands as part of the Hard Enduro World Championship.

Leading from the front for the majority of the day, Moore finished in front of the best in the world in a time of 5 hours and 27 minutes.

A fast, cross-country/hard enduro hybrid race bucks the HEWC trend and it proved beneficial for those with at least some “local” knowledge as the results show, with the top seven all South African riders.

The truth is James Moore made a break for it, navigated well and put together a great ride out front all on his own with Will Slater and Mathew Stevens slotting into claim the top three on the day.

Behind it was a bit of a chase for the HEWC regulars with Mario Roman topping them in P8, followed by Alfredo Gomez and Mitch Brightmore (both finishing on exactly the same time coincidentally). Behind Moore, riders got caught in a battle with each other, with dust and navigation playing as much of a role as the track knowledge.

One notable name down the order was Billy Bolt who clocks in with 13th place and 15 minutes behind the day winner (Mani Lettenbichler was P11). But, as Bill explained at the finish, it was a combination of confusion at a time control with conflicting opinions about what the riders should actually do, plus navigation mistakes his own which meant his day was a bit skewed.

As we write, the results remain provisional with some riders protesting their times and, not for the first time at The Roof, a bit of chaos reigns. 

The chrono is accumulative at The Roof which means the boys have some work to do if they are to have any chance of upsetting the South Arican whitewash of the podium tomorrow afternoon at the finish.
