2026 EnduroGP of Spain Results: Home victory for Josep Garcia on day 1

Results from the opening day of racing at round two of the EnduroGP World Championship, where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia took victory on home soil. Hamish Macdonald claimed a career-best result with second in EnduroGP and victory in E2. Andrea Verona completed the EnduroGP podium.

Day 1 in a nutshell:

Light rain and grey skies welcomed the riders for the first proper enduro day in Oliana, Spain, creating a thin layer of mud on top of the ground, making grip hard to judge and mistakes easy to make.
Brad Freeman looked like a man on a mission all day, opening big gaps at the front of the pack and entering the last lap with more than a 30-second lead. But to finish first, first you have to finish, and the Beta rider had a big one in the third Enduro Test that cost him the overall lead and could have resulted in a serious injury. Brad was able to finish and take the E3 win, but he was taken to hospital for further checks.
Home hero Josep Garcia capitalised on that mistake and managed the advantage like a true veteran, pushing where it mattered and taking it easy where he had to, claiming his second overall win of the season.
It was a career-best result for Sherco Racing Factory’s Hamish Macdonald in second. The flying Kiwi took everyone by surprise, even himself, and slowly climbed up the timesheets after a double crash in test one to take the E2 class win and second overall in EnduroGP.
Andrea Verona struggled to find the feeling in these conditions and, despite “not having a good day”, he was able to salvage it with second in E2 and third in EnduroGP.
Crashes also affected Nathan Watson, with the Brit going down in the logs of the Cross Test on the last lap before nursing it home through the following two tests.
Bad luck struck Steve Holcombe, who suffered a mechanical issue with his Sherco in the final test of the day, losing nearly eight minutes and dropping down the running order to 31st.
In the Women’s class, RIEJU Factory Team’s Rachel Gutish made no mistakes this time around to take the win, with her teammate Rosie Rowett joining her on the podium in second. Sherco UK’s Nieve Holmes enjoyed a great day at the office to finish third.
2025 Youth Enduro World Champion Romain Dagna (KTM) took his first win in Junior, while Pietro Scardina (TM MOTO) topped the Youth class.
