2026 Extreme XL Lagares Results: Lettenbichler completes the clean sweep in Portugal

Results from round two of the 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship at Extreme XL Lagares in Portugal, where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Manuel Lettenbichler completed a perfect weekend, winning all three days and taking the championship lead. Mitch Brightmore pushed him all the way in Sunday’s main race, with Teodor Kabakchiev completing the podium.

Manuel Lettenbichler was the rider to beat all weekend in Portugal, taking the win on Friday’s Endurocode Stage, Saturday’s Extreme Penafiel race and Sunday’s main Extreme XL Lagares race.
The Red Bull KTM rider set the tone early with a commanding victory on Friday’s 60-kilometre Endurocode Stage, finishing over three minutes clear of his nearest rival.
Mani carried that form into Saturday’s 120-kilometre Extreme Penafiel race, where he again proved untouchable, stretching his winning margin to over eight minutes.
Sunday’s main race finally brought a closer fight at the front across the two-hour-plus-one-lap format, but Lettenbichler still delivered when it mattered.
The German held off Mitch Brightmore by just 7.9 seconds at the finish, securing a clean sweep of victories across the weekend and maximum points from round two.
Brightmore, on the X-Grip GASGAS Racing Team machine, was the only rider able to take the fight to Mani in the main race, finishing second after nine laps and keeping the pressure on until the flag.
Teodor Kabakchiev completed the podium for Sherco Factory Racing in third, 4m27s behind Lettenbichler.
Mario Roman was fourth on the Mr74 Racing Team Husqvarna, 5m19s off the win, while Billy Bolt completed the top five after a tough weekend riding with a hand injury.
Bolt arrived in Portugal knowing it would be a case of survival and damage limitation, but the Husqvarna Factory Racing rider dug deep to take seventh on Saturday and fifth in Sunday’s main race.
James Moore finished sixth overall and was the best-placed Junior rider, ahead of Ashton Brightmore in seventh and second Junior and Wade Young in eighth.
Eddie Karlsson put the Stark inside the top 10 with ninth place while Lorenzo Gandola completed the top 10 for Sherco Racing Factory.
Toby Martyn, Alfredo Gomez, Francesc Moret, Matthew Green and Toby Shaw, third in Junior, completed the top 15, with all five finishing one lap down on the winner.
With maximum points across the weekend, Lettenbichler now leads the championship standings after two rounds with a 15-point advantage as he continues his bid for a fifth consecutive world title.
