Abestone Hard Enduro in Italy set for return

The Abestone Hard Enduro, previously a round of the Hard Enduro World Championship in Italy, is back this October in the Apennine mountains ski resort with an aim for a HEWC return in 2025.

Scheduled for October 19 and 20, the Abestone Hard Enduro has been resurrected. After some troubled times with the previous local authority, the organisers are celebrating a new lease of life for an event which was among the most spectacular in the world championship calendar as recently as 2022.

With the support of the Abetone municipality and (crucially we think) a new mayor, Gabriele Bacci, this Autumn will lay the groundwork for a hopeful return of the HEWC series in 2025.

If you are not familiar with the Abestone, the event organised by professional level rider and Michele Bosi, is a cracker. Set in a ski resort between Val di Luce and Ovovia, a 15km course is designed for all levels of riders running a format of open qualification and finals to ensure plenty of riding for all competitors.

It’s not all easy going though as the previous HEWC round proved with multiple laps in the finals on an increasing difficult course. This year’s event will include a B Final passing through the renowned “Minestrone” rock garden on an epic scale which featured famously in previous main finals only.
