Alfredo Gomez launches new amateur Hard Enduro series in Spain 

Alfredo Gomez launches a new hard enduro series in Spain under the name Hard Enduro Experience, taking over from the previous national championship with a format built around amateur riders and grassroots participation.

After leaving his role as organiser of the Spanish federation (RFME) Hard Enduro Championship, Alfredo Gomez says he did not want the work of the past five years to disappear. Rider, team manager and organiser, Alfredo now starts an independent project focused on keeping hard enduro moving in Spain.

“Hard Enduro Experience comes from me. I’ve spent five years organising the Spanish Hard Enduro Championship, which I also helped create. There were disagreements with the federation and I didn’t want all that movement to be lost,” he explains.

The new series is centred on the Expert category, previously the Copa class, expected to attract between 90 and 120 riders per event. Junior, senior and masters categories will also feature, while a junior class for under-23s is intended as an entry point into the discipline.

“It’s hard enduro, but with a fairly manageable level of difficulty. Every climb has different options and the goal is that the last rider should at least complete one lap.”

Non-competitive class with the entry fee

A key addition is a non-competitive category on Saturday afternoons, allowing riders to try hard enduro without race pressure.

“It costs about half the race entry and is designed so anyone can experience what this discipline is about.”

Although the focus is amateur riders, a Pro category will also feature, with names such as Francesc Moret, Marc Riba, Mario Román and Teodor Kabakchiev expected across the season.

The opening two rounds are already set for Asturias on March 28–29 and La Pesquera on April 11–12, with two further events planned later in the year.

“This year we have few resources and a lot of enthusiasm, so we’ll produce the best we can,” says Gómez, who also hopes the series can eventually help junior riders progress towards the Hard Enduro World Championship.
