First look: AXP launch innovative new radiator guards

AXP Racing have launched an innovative new system to protect dirt bike radiators – 100% HDPE plastic rad guards with removable wings makes them strong, light and easy to clean.

Weighing in at just 0.9kg, and sporting a design we haven’t seen before, AXP’s new radiator braces for off-road motorcycles made us stop and do a double-take.

Made in HDPE (high density polyethylene) plastic, these radiator protectors or braces fit directly to the frame and on the outside of the radiator to brace against impacts from the front and side.

The patented design features a main structure made of 15 and 20mm thick plastic blocks with removable, 6mm wings which slot in the front. These wings slot in and clip in aplce to hold steady, with tab to push in to release them.

This innovation here is firstly the fact they are built from tough plastic (as used to great effect on other AXP protection products) and therefore offer protection withouth the weight of metal but also the removable wings allow quick and easy cleaning of the radiators without any tools.

The bad news is they’re only compatible for Sherco models at present (obvs not bad for Sherco owners!): SE125 Factory, SE250 / SE300 Factory, SEF250 / SEF300 Factory, SEF450 / SEF500 Factory (not on every bike model year – please check).

The good news is the AXP team are already working on designs for KTM/Husqvarna/GASGAS models with more in the pipeline.
