ISDE Spain 2024: Josep Garcia leads the home nation

The RFME has revealed the Spanish Trophy teams ahead of the 2024 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) with EnduroGP top dog, Red Bull KTM’s Josep Garcia heading the charge on home soil this October.

It will come as no surprise to most that Josep Garcia leads the list of riders named to represent the Spanish nation on home soil at this year’s ISDE. The flying Spaniard has won the ISDE outright on the last year occasions and is currently leading the World Enduro Championship.

As the Spanish federation, RFME, reveals the list of riders in World, Junior, Women’s, and Club categories aiming for a podium finish at least in the ‘Enduro Olympics’ held in Silleda, Galicia, from October 14-19.

National coach Cristobal Guerrero has put together four strong teams to compete which includes Josep Garcia (KTM), Sergio Navarro (Husqvarna), Julio Pando (Beta), and Jaume Betriu (WPEA) in World Trophy, a title that has historically eluded the Spanish team in the ISDE – though they have won the silver medal on three occasions: Cerdanya 1985, Finland 2011, and more recently in Italy 2021.

Albert Fontova (GASGAS), Alex Puey (Beta), and Yago Dominguez (Sherco) will defend Spain’s colours in the Junior Vase, a trophy which the Spanish juniors have won six times.

After their absence from the previous ISDE in Argentina 2023, Spain will field a Women’s World Trophy team in Galicia with world championship runaway leader Mireia Badia (Rieju), Maria San Miguel (Rieju), and the multi-discipline athlete Sandra Gomez (GASGAS) lined up.

Meanwhile, Lluís Gonfaus (WPEA), Alfredo Pellicer (Sherco), and Aleix Saumell (Yamaha) make up the young RFME squad that will compete in the Club category.
