Pro Bike: ISDE hot sauce – Steve Holcombe’s Honda CRF400RX

Enduro21 grabs hold of Steve Holcombe’s Honda RedMoto Racing CRF400RX just before the Team GB rider put his red hot race bike inside the Parc Ferme at the 2024 FIM International Six Days Enduro in Spain.

The annual “Olympics of enduro” is well and truly underway in Spain with teams and riders finishing bike prep, completing administration and undergoing technical checks ahead of finally putting their machines into parc ferme.

For some, the Six Days means a change of machine from usual. Switching capacity of sometimes manufacturer based on host country conditions and terrain sometimes but also, for some, because they are using a rental bike having travelled across the world to take part.

For nine-times EnduroGP world champ Steve Holcombe, the 2024 ISDE in Galicia is his chance to move up a capacity or two in the RedMoto Honda model range from the CRF250RX he has been racing all season in E1 category to the 400cc model.

Steve is racing the 400 at the ISDE for the power upgrade and because the tests tend to be faster – although the weather in Galicia, northern Spain might mean the riders need the power to get through the mud more than anything this week...

RedMoto Honda enduro models

Honda’s official RX model range famously runs to two bikes – the 250 and 450 four-strokes. But RedMoto, the Italian Honda importer, dealer and official world enduro championship race team, extends the line-up to 250, 300, 400 and 450 4T models.

Those two extra models are aimed squarely at the enduro riders with the additional capacity just one of the upgrades and adaptations you get with a RedMoto CRF RX model – the over-size Vertex pistons, cylinders, cams and electronics are developed for each model by RedMoto race team (the race bikes and the customer bikes).

Holcombe’s factory race bike is quite obviously a whole extra level and is littered with special parts and upgrades developed by RedMoto over many years world championship competition.
