Quick look: 2023 KTM 690 Enduro R

Popular dual-sport machine, the KTM 690 Enduro R, takes styling cues from the competition enduro range for “updated aesthetics” on the 2023 model revealed this week.

Powered by the iconic LC4 engine, the latest edition of the KTM 690 Enduro R gets a new look this year after some bigger changes in previous model generations.

2023 KTM 690 Enduro R Highlights:

New colours on the bodywork with styling based on the EXC family
LC4 single-cylinder engine featuring electronic fuel injection, ride-by-wire technology, dual-balancer shafts, PASC slipper clutch and six-speed transmission
Low seat height (910mm/35.8in)
Adjustable WP XPLOR suspension with separate damping circuits and 250 mm (9.8 in) of travel
Lightweight chrome-molybdenum trellis frame
Polymer rear fuel tank improves centre of gravity and reduced weight
Brembo braking system combined with waved discs
Cornering ABS with optional Offroad ABS (to disengage rear ABS, dongle required)
Quickshifter for clutchless gear changes
Lean-angle sensitive Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), plus Street and Offroad ride modes switched directly from the handlebars

Among the details and many optional extras available for the latest generation 690 Enduro R (see images but it includes things like engine guards, panniers, wrap-around handguards) is the optional Offroad ABS dongle. It is simple, you just plug it in and gain an extra step Enduro21 knows from experience is worth the investment.

It lets you select less ABS intervention to the front wheel and completely disables ABS on the rear. When you’re riding off-road, the standard settings can be a hindrance more than a help so adding this doesn’t just let you slide the rear to tight turn but helps on technical downhills where traction is minimal.

Ideally, it needs a full off setting in our view but this helps a lot in loose or slick terrain. Xavier de Soultrait looks like he’s having a good time with things turned off in the video and images.
