Salamanca International SuperEnduro: Alfredo Gomez fends of the Taddy’s Stark charge

Alfredo Gómez claims victory in the first edition of the Salamanca International SuperEnduro ahead of Taddy Blazusiak on the Stark Varg and Francesc Moret.

Dakar Rally racer and former EnduroGP rider Lorenzo Santolino is the architect of the new event, the Salamanca International SuperEnduro, which last weekend brought together national and international riders in to the urban centre of the Salamanca capital.

The Salamanca SuperEnduro marked a milestone as the first international event of its kind in the city, attracting more than 5000 spectators. The circuit, assembled in just over 48 hours on the Rector Esperabé promenade, offered a challenging course designed by the Santolino brothers, with obstacles that included an impressive six-meter-high ramp launching riders in teh direction of the city church!

The competition format invited riders in the absolute category and a category reserved for regional talents, which also formed part of the Castilla y León Championship. Training sessions, scoring heats, and an 'American' elimination race all put on a show for the Salamanca crowds.

Gomez fends of the Taddy’s Stark charge

Alfredo Gómez was the dominant force of the evening after winning two of the three heats, with Taddy Blazusiak securing the third heat.

The showdown between the two riders was intense, with the Spaniard making the most of the power of his Rieju in the most complex sections, while the Pole excelled in the starts thanks to the tremendous acceleration of his Stark Varg electric motor.

Francesc Moret, a Sherco Spain rider, completed the podium in this first edition.
